At age 19, Trisha Henry Gaffney was diagnosed with embryonal
rhabdomyosarcoma. After undergoing chemotherapy
and radiation, she wanted to put her cancer experience behind her.
While she went annually for check-ups with her primary care
doctor, it wasn’t until nearly 12 years after she completed treatment that she
visited the Survivor Clinic at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at the age of 32 years. It was during this
visit that she learned that because of the treatments she received she was at high
risk for infertility and was referred to a fertility specialist.
